'Standard Issue' Surfboards

We have 2 main "standard issue" boards but we also have other boards for hire at the "standard issue" price such as Bic's and Wave-tec etc. We try to have a wide selection covering most boards available.

For weekly hires you can swap boards as you get better long as you stay in the "standard issue" price range ...subject to availability.  i.e.

Swells Surfboards

The "Swell" board, (sometimes known as a"foamie") is firmly established as the best board to start out on. They have loads of floatation that helps beginners catch waves and learn to stand.   These are the boards used by Surf Schools. Usual adult size is 8ft.

Soft 'n' Hard Surfboards

The "Soft 'n' Hard" board, (sometimes known as a "Soft-top") is a "new technology" board thats been around for about 5 years now. We mostly use the 7'6" mini-mal version and we find that they are very popular indeed, so much so that some shops use these boards alone for hire. Shape-wise they are an accurate interpretation of a custom mini-mal but in a much stronger construction yet still light enough to hold in one hand at arm's length.

They make great beginners/improvers boards...As soon as you can get to your feet regularly on the Swell board then move onto this...when you can regularly stand and turn this board it's time to think about hiring or buying your first board...
